Willow Creek Journal LIVE
In collaboration with the Creede Arts Council
Step into the pages of this year’s Willow Creek Journaland experience the art, poetry, and stories of Creede: LIVE and in person, with the creators. After we wrapped last year’s first ever event of this kind, we received so much positive feedback that our organizations collectively decided to continue on and make this an annual show, AND that we needed to move it to a bigger venue.
The Willow Creek Journalwas established in 1993 by the Creede Arts Council to showcase the literary and visual Artists of the Creede community, and is still going strong today, 29 editions later, now in full color!
Part dramatic reading, part open mic, part gallery show, Willow Creek Journal Live brings the published works of this year’s journal to the stage. Local authors, poets, and artists will share their work aloud, and some of Creede’s iconic storytellers-actors will be on hand to read pieces on behalf of those who prefer not to step up to the mic. Visual artists featured in the journal will also present their published pieces (they are encouraged to bring the original piece & this year we will experiment with projecting the works onto the large whit walls of the Creede Hotel Tent), offering insight into their creative process and inspiration.
This year’s event will also feature a group of live backing musicians providing mood-setting music to accompany select works, adding another layer of atmosphere and emotional resonance to the evening.
At the heart of it all is a shared connection to Creede, its landscapes, its people, its history, and the stories we carry. Whether joyful or reflective, deeply personal or universal, each piece in this year’s journal is rooted in the spirit of this special place.
You’ll be able to pick up your very own copy of the journal at the event, and some of the creators might even be willing to sign their work!
The evening will be recorded live for archival purposes, and selections may also be featured in an upcoming episode of CMAC’s podcast, The Source.
Whether you’re a contributor, a friend of the arts, or a curious listener, this is your chance to gather in celebration of Creede’s vibrant creative community.
Free to attend, & all donations will go toward the publication of next year’s WCJ.

Four-session course: July 6, 13, 20 & 27, 2026, 6:00 - 8:00 PM at CMAC HQ (all Mondays)
This hands-on, all-levels, multi-genre course dives into music’s nuts and bolts: from reading notation (staff, tabs, Nashville numbers, etc.), basic theory, and music history to how instruments work, how genres connect (Mozart and Willie Nelson have more in common than you think), harmony, texture, practice strategies, and even a bit of songwriting. Through step-by-step demos, practicums, play-along moments, deep listening, handouts and worksheets, we’ll demystify how music works in a supportive, curiosity-welcome environment for musicians and music-lovers alike.
The four-session course runs over 4 weeks: July 6, 13, 20 & 27, 2026, 6:00 - 8:00 PM at CMAC HQ (all Mondays), and will be team-taught by CMAC teaching artists Courtney La Zier & Megan Marino, spanning multiple instruments and genres.

Yin Yoga is the practice of holding postures for extended periods of time to allow the release of myofascial tissue (all the little bits that hold bones, muscle, and tendons together).
Yoga Nidra translates to Yoga Sleep. It is an ancient practice that is a conscious sort of sleep that allows the brain to enter into all stages of sleep without actually drifting off.

Entry is $5 per person. Any additional donations will go directly to CMAC.
Note: Yoga Nidra is done best with a yoga mat, several blankets, and bolster (a pillow). Come dressed in your comfiest and warmest clothes as your body temperature can drop up to 5 degrees while participating in yoga Nidra.

Yin Yoga/Yoga Nidra w/ Wade Adams
EVERY OTHER SUNDAY: Beginning Sunday, Nov. 2, at CMAC HQ, Wade Adams will be guiding a Yin Yoga / Yoga Nidra class at 5:30pm.
🎶 Part of a traditional Yoga Nidra is a visualization portion. Rather than speaking you through a visualization, he will be playing music and allowing that to guide your dreaming brain wherever it will go.

Instrument Maintenance 101: with Poi Rogers
Ever wondered how to care for your instrument like a pro?
Join Poi Rogers—the vintage Americana duo from Santa Cruz—for a special show-and-tell style instrument maintenance class. In addition to performing, Carolyn Sills and Gerard Egan run an independent instrument shop in California, where they build, repair, and restore a wide range of stringed instruments.
In this hands-on talk, they’ll share essential tips and tricks for keeping your instrument in great shape—whether you’re a casual strummer or a seasoned player. Expect real tools, real stories, and a chance to ask your burning questions about care, cleaning, and what not to do.
Free to attend—donations are always appreciated. RSVP not necessary but encouraged.
All ages and experience levels welcome.
