You asked, so we created: New General Music Course at CMAC
This hands-on, all-levels class dives into music’s nuts and bolts: from reading notation (staff, tabs, Nashville numbers, etc.), basic theory, and music history to how instruments work, how genres connect (Mozart and Willie Nelson have more in common than you think), harmony, texture, practice strategies, and even a bit of songwriting. Through step-by-step demos, practicums, play-along moments, deep listening, handouts and worksheets, we’ll demystify how music works in a supportive, curiosity-welcome environment for musicians and music-lovers alike.
Team-taught by CMAC teaching artists Courtney La Zier & Megan Marino, spanning multiple instruments and genres.
The 4-session class runs over two weeks:
March 10, 13, 17 & 20 (Tuesdays & Fridays)
6–7:30pm at CMAC HQ
Designed as a cumulative series; registration encouraged, but drop-ins welcome.
Zoom option available for those away from Creede.
$100 Full Course (includes handouts, access to Zoom links, video archives, PDF & audio examples), $25 per drop-in.
